Infantry Rifle designed by S. Colt (USA, 1850)
The rifle presented is, in fact, just an experiment by Colt in an attempt to create, on the basis of his patent, the gun that the American infantry so needed. He did not have such popularity as that of revolvers, but as you can see, and what is recognized by all the specialists of the world , this is a stylish, beautiful and powerful gun. Just these data (rarity and beauty) make it a welcome acquisition for collectors. Apparently, this prompted the DENIX gunsmiths to manufacture this replica.
In 1851, Sam became the first American manufacturer to open a factory in England, which strengthened his reputation in the international market. Colt led an aggressive marketing policy. The weapons he produced were richly decorated and engraved. Pistols won prizes at international exhibitions, and were publicly awarded to heads of state, including Russian Tsar Nicholas I, King of Denmark Frederick VII, and Swedish King Charles XV. So far, Colt is one of the most successful weapons companies in the world.
